Old Eastview, just across the Rideau
Vanier is the former City of Eastview. It is inside the Greenbelt, east of the Rideau River, a short trip from downtown and a very different street pattern from Kanata or Barrhaven. Cars sit on short blocks, in small apartment lots, and along a busy commercial road.
Montreal Road is the main street, from the river out to St. Laurent Boulevard. McArthur Avenue runs parallel to the south. Beechwood Avenue is the north edge, shared with New Edinburgh. Montfort Hospital is on Montreal Road. The Richelieu-Vanier Community Centre is in Richelieu Park, off the north end of the neighbourhood.
The Vanier Parkway is the link to Highway 417. Overbrook, just west of the parkway, comes with the same calls: a car on a side street off Coventry Road, or at the stadium lot. RCGT Park (Ottawa Stadium) is on Coventry, just south of Vanier.
When you call, give a cross street. "Vanier" alone covers everything from Beechwood to the 417. Gloucester starts once you are past St. Laurent. Orléans is further east on the 174. Gatineau is across the river.
